if u guys couldnt tell already, i fit into a certain musical scene :P and i embrace it wholly (except for all the sexual shit; said it ysterday, sayin it again, #straightedge_scenekids_forevuhhh )



but i also have been rly into gabber music for quite a while. i know, kinda stupid coming from me, someone who looks like they stepped out of wayback machine

on the surface, gabber looks like something aggressive and cultish; ppl wearing the same tracksuit outfits, shaving the sides of their head or shaving their heads completely, having a really weird dance, etc.

at first my mom thought that gabbers were nazis because of how similar they appear to skinhead culture
but then when she realised that a lot of the music was stuff she knew, but didnt know was called gabber and looked into the scene more with me, she realised its just like. a really eccentric subgroup of people who like hardcore electronic shit :P theyre just like a big group of mellow ppl 
(who sometimes like to do drugs lmfao; im aware of that)

i love how accepting gabbers are. i mean, like, in terms of accepting people; ik theres a bit of fighting among people on the music sometimes n that newer DJs are hated on unnecessarily.

but in terms of people, its so refreshing for me to see a european edm scene that isnt a breeding ground for nazis!! when nazis tried to like. make the genre their own, popular gabber djs and artists retaliated and made songs to combat this shit, and let people know that nazis are not welcome.

(take for example die nazi scum by party animals, fuck the nazism by hellcore, etc.)

also multiple gabber record labels have come forward w/ anti fascism + racism slogans.

also when some djs turn out to be shitty people, it is so fucking refreshing to see many people take a stand and say that they are not welcome anymore. they can separate the music from the person, but the person themselves is not welcome anymore.



theyre good at excluding people who are pieces of shit, but theyre welcoming to people new to the culture.

i dont know if this was always the case, but i personally feel so welcomed! i made a comment on a dj isaac video on youtube, and tons of ppl were flooding the replies like 
"yesss new person introduced to gabber!"
"here have some recs: __, __, __, and also, if you go to a festival, make sure to wear something comfortable!"

(i mean ive been into edm for such a long time including gabber, but either way it makes me so happy that people are welcoming to younger people.)

in subcultures like goth, scene, emo, etc, ive seen such hatred for "newgens". and i mean i honestly get why; theres groups of ppl who romanticise the culture and take part in it simply because its "trendy". like i get gatekeeping ppl like that from any culture, but they tend to forget that not all young people are like that.
some people are genuinely interested in that and that is who they are.

but in gabber, i dont think ive seen anything negative said to randos other than ppl bashing nazis, saying newgen hardcore music sucks, or making fun of the way someone does the hakken

and i love that. i mean, gabber literally is a play on "haverim" which means "friend" in hebrew.
i have met a few gabbers out in the wild, and all the people i have met are genuinely so nice too!

however theres always some bad seeds (or posers lmfao). ive seen like.. dutch nationalist gabber,,, national socialist "gabber"... 
thats not gabber. most of it is always shitty tänzelcore or whatever the fuck tiktok thinks is jumpstyle.

im really getting worried that places like tiktok and tumblr will find gabber and ruin it with their weird clique-iness. i love the gabber scene, ive always wanted to go to thunderdome, i literally have so many of the cds from my dad, the music is a part of my childhood.

idk i just hope that the community stays this way; kinda like a semipermeable membrane: being welcoming to people regardless of their race, gender, etc., but keeping disgusting people out of the community as much as they can.
